Safer Internet Day 2018

Safer Internet Day 2018 was celebrated on Tuesday 6th February and during this week each class has taken part in activities to raise awareness of being safe on the Internet. The theme for this year's day is Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet stars with you.

The children have learnt that the internet can be a wonderful and powerful place, where we can be connected and enhance our learning. However, we must also understand how to keep ourselves safe while online.

The activities that the children have taken part in have included: Recognising what personal information is and the importance of keeping it safe when online; Describing ways to be kind to others when online; Understanding what to do if something/someone online makes them feel confused or upset; Identifying the key ingredients to creating a better internet; Understanding how our actions online affect the feelings of ourselves and others and Exploring the online behaviours that have positive and negative effects on young people.

In addition to this, each class has contributed a selection of work that has been completed during this week to be displayed on the Online Safety display in the junior corridor.

Please talk to your children about this very important subject. Further information and activities can be found at https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2018
