Safer Inernet Day 2017

On Tuesday 7th February the children took part in Safer Internet Day 2017 with the theme ‘Be the change: unite for a better internet.’

Children across school took part in a range of activities developing their understanding of staying safe online. Our children always show a good awareness of this, but in an ever increasing technological world we feel it is of vital importance to regularly update their understanding.

Some of the activities that took place across school included:

Learning about the importance of asking an adult before using the internet;

the importance of keeping personal information safe when online;

making choices about what is ok and not to share online;

showing an awareness of the importance of online safety and demonstrating to others the key aspects of staying safe online;

acting out an online safety play script and creating a rap to highlight the key themes of how to stay safe online.

Online safety embeds our computing curriculum to ensure that the children understand its importance in a range of different contexts, such as safe searching and the creation of effective passwords.

The children had great fun during Safer Internet Day and were able to demonstrate during the activities a very good understanding of how to stay safe online.
